Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, Germany is a legendary five star hotel located in Berlin, Germany. Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Berlin and my choice of Hotel was the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin. Hotel Adlon offers 304 rooms, 78 Suites, 4 refined restaurants, 3 stylish bars, 15 meeting and event rooms, a fitness centre, a spa with heated pool and a shopping arcade. The Hotel has hosted an array of celebrities, royals and dignitaries like the Majesty Oueen of England, Albert Einstein and Michael Jackson.
Brief History About The Hotel
The Hotel Adlon owes its name to its original owner, Lorenz Adlon, who invested 20 million gold marks and two years into the creation of the hotel, which first opened on 23 October, 1907. After burning down in WWll and literally being re-born from the ashes, admittedly with some decades delay, the new Adlon has quickly reclaimed its reputation as Berlin’s most illustrious hotel since its reopening in 1997. Today, the hotel is once again the gathering place of heads of state, royals, politicians, stars and starlets, intellectuals, artists, designers, entrepreneurs, charming roughs and quirky characters.
The Five Star luxury Hotel is located in the heart of Berlin beside the Brandenburg Gate which is one of Germany’s most iconic landmarks. It is in the middle of the governmental and Embassy district as well. Primary sights such as the Reichstag, Unter den Linden, Potsdamer Platz and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe all a short stroll away. The State Opera House is one kilometre from the hotel. Museum island and exclusive shopping opportunities is easily accessible via public transport which is within walking distance.
The moment you step onto Hotel Adlon’s carpets you are welcome to a world of grand and magnificient interior design. Sumptuous interiors and refined materials like cherrywood, mahogany and marble are used in public areas and rooms. All hotel floors and door borders are made of valuable limestone while the walls and doors have tasteful mahogany and cherry furnishings.
The Ladies in Red
You are greeted by the “The Ladies in Red” who offer you a glass of bubbly, poured from a magnum and take you to your room. They look after you, tell you where to go in Berlin, organise transfers and take care of your needs.
The Adlon Boutiques
Inside the Hotel Adlon is a Shopping Arcade which offers numerous chic and unique boutiques waiting to be explored. I had a wonder around the shopping arcade and 2 boutiques caught my eyes,Edsor Berlin and The Walentowski Gallery.
Edsor Berlin is a german brand and men’s clothes shop.
The Walentowski Gallery is an art gallery with an extensive range of original masterpieces as well as modern and contemporary works.
The Hotel Adlon offers 304 rooms and 78 suites, some of them overlook the Unter den Linden boulevard and the Brandenburg gate. Two rooms for disabled guests are available with an interior and space modified for wheelchairs, in addition to two similarly modelled bathrooms. There are also six unique rooms which offer hypoallergenic pillows and fabrics to accommodate guests with allergies.
For my accommodation I stayed at the Adlon Executive Suite on the second floor which is equipped with a king Size Bed.
The Adlon Executive Suite offers:
The Adlon Executive Suite offers magnificient views to the Brandensburg gate.
During my stay, I noticed that fine dining is a key element in the Adlon’s tradition of gracious hospitality. The Hotel Adlon has 4 refined Restaurants. The SRA BUA by Tim Raue is a fine dining restaurant serving cutting edge Pan Asian Cuisine with an European twist. Lorenz Adlon Esszimmeris a two michelin stars european inspired cuisine restaurant. Restaurant Quarré is a brasserie style restaurant which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a magnificent view of the Brandenburg Gate. Lobby Lounge & Bar is the heart and symbol of Hotel Adlon Kempinski. At the Lobby Lounge & Bar you enjoy the afternoon cocktail, sip a cup of tea/coffee from the vast array of selected tea/coffee specialities or a glass of champagne. The gentle sound of piano, tasty snacks or treats from the pâtisserie is just super awesome and fantastic.
Hotel Adlon has a lovely dining area. Breakfast was. . . . . excellent!!!! The choices and presentation is out of this world. Breakfast is a grand affair at the Hotel Adlon, from the huge selection of cheese and hams, many types of bread, eggs, bacon, pastries, smoked fish, cold meats etc . The spread was very impressive and there were plenty more options for every taste. And there were Champers too, always a good idea for breakfast.
For Dinner, I had a 6 course meal at SRA BUA by Tim Raue which is one of the 4 restaurants at the Hotel. Love the decor especially the artistic displays on the wall. Food was very delicious, service was very personable and friendily.
Spa and Fitness
At the Adlon Spa by Resence, they offer exclusive beauty treatments, massages and therapeutic programmes. I was offered a complimentary treatment and I opted for the HydraFacial MDTreatment. The HydraFacialMD treatment is a customizable, rejuvenating skin resurfacing treatment that immediately reduces the look of lines, wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, congested pores and uneven skin tone on the face and the neck. The facial included LED light therapy, leaving me to experience exquisite results. Also the Fitness Centre offers a state of the art gymnasium with a heated indoor pool area and sauna.
