Luminscence is a visual series that explores light and the mind of imagination which are my thoughts, messages, stories and ideas from my Chi . . . . Chi in Igbo cosmology is referred to as the “personal God” . . . the personal spirit of a person and the spirit which determines destiny.
What does Light Symbolise?
Light is one of the most universal and fundamental symbols. It is the spiritual and the divine, it is the illumination and intelligence. Light is the source of goodness and the ultimate reality.
Luminscence connects with the future of the mind, highlights the connections within light and the greater living world. The series is informed by conceptual photography and focuses on ideas, symbols and themes situated in everyday.
“But my darling, there is no such thing as the light at the end of the tunnel, you must realise that you are the light” – Anonymous
“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it” – Terry Pratchet
“When you get to the end of all the light you know and its time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on , or you will be taught how to fly”- Edward Teller
Luminscence is an ongoing visual project documented by Chin We. A 5 years, 7 years, 10 years etc project I don’t know. This is a special project to me cos I do and don’t understand the project . . . does that make sense? LMAO
