Now Listening: Chisara Agor

Chisara Agor is a multi -disciplinary artist from Peckham, London. She is self-taught at the guitar and ukulele with her influences, ranging from jazz to folk, soul and indie pop. Her work is eclectic, addressing contemporary themes and conflicts yet simultaneously commenting on the notion of the human spirit and vulnerability.

ANONYMOUS is a new single from her upcoming project Shadows and Searchlights. Anonymous shines a torch into the cracks where stories, feelings and histories and people are left behind. Who decides what we see and do not see? Who are those who haunt a city, a country, a war?

Chisara embeds the faceless voice in a cacophony of synths, guitars, drums and pulsing percussion. Within the song there is a call to question our reality and the reality that is forced upon us. Who decides what we see and do not see? Who are those who haunt a city, a country, a war? She makes a proclamation, although you may not see us and if you do perhaps through a distorted lens. “Here I am.”

I’m a stranger slipping through your hands

I’m estranged from the dream that we all had

I’m a faceless casualty of war

I’m the nameless group that you abhor
